go big.

go big or go home.

Well the retrieval came and went without a hitch.

The bed rest wasn’t so bad either.

And aside from feeling a bit bloated and crampy, I am feeling great. This afternoon we are packing up and getting out of Dodge, spending the weekend with our dear friends up in Seattle. It is exactly what we need and I could’t be happier.

Oh, what? You want to know about the numbers? Well, let me tell you.

26 EGGS PEOPLE!! Yup, beat the last round by 4!

I got the call this morning that 15 of those eggs were mature. Out of those 15, 12 were fertilized and are now embryos. Statistically, half of those survive past day 3. On the fifth day, next Tuesday, I will have them transferred. Crazy, huh?

Now before you get too excited for us, which I greatly appreciate, please say a little prayer that these tiny little things grow nicely the next five days. As you may recall from the last cycle, I had 10 fertilized and only 3 made it to day 5. Doing the numbers, you will see that is less than half. Of those 3 embryos, none were to day 5 growth. In other words, they barely made the cut. They were transferred into my uterus with a success rate of 40%, twenty percent less than the normal success rate.

So I am cheering. LOUDLY. But I would be lying if I told you I didn’t have all my fingers and toes crossed.

ps- How SWEET would that big Monster truck be for Oscar’s birthday party? :)

Love,

k
