At 2am this morning, we received a phone call to our home from the PICU. Our baby girl had had a seizure. We were told this can happen to small babies who undergo surgery but of course, this doesn't really put your mind at ease. Now, we have made a corner of Ulla's PICU room "our space" camped out with breast pump and accessories, blankets and the "never leave home without it" his and her cell phones. Ulla underwent at MRI earlier and now has and EEG test that will monitor her brain waves for the next several hours into tomorrow. There will be no taking her off the vent today. There will be no holding her. There will be no attempt to practice nursing. Nope. We will have to be patient because, for now, there is no easy detour to take.
