The Origami House

A Sanctuary for Sound + Human Experience

The Origami House is a space my husband, Greg, and I created in Kalamazoo, Michigan, born from a shared desire to do something a little different, to create a place where our  ideas could take shape and where others can dream and create too.

The name came to me the in our intial few visits to the space. It was a weird little building. A former House of Worship. There was something about the way the walls met one another, the way the  roof appeared to fold into itself. And The Origami House I began to call it. And Origami felt like the perfect metaphor for what we were creating. A simple sheet of paper can become something entirely new through a series of thoughtful folds, each one building on the last. There is patience in the process. Possibility. Transformation.

That is what we hope this space offers.

Sound is at the heart of The Origami House, and it is where much of my own work now takes place. I offer sound immersions, individual sessions, and other experiences there, while the space also welcomes classes, workshops, gatherings, music, visiting practitioners, and creative collaborations.

More than anything, The Origami House is a place to pause, listen, create, gather, and unfold.
